Eyesight to the Blind

to Bernd (btm805@btrtx9.hrz.uni-bayreuth.de)
<while someone else might want to
point out where to look for Sonny Boy Williamson's original.

from CDC database:
 ARH310 +WILLIAMSON*SONNY BOY KING BISCUIT TIME 7.7/3 ****
 $11.96 &ARHOOLIE 12/89
    \eyesight to the blind

(along with 15 other covers, 4 from the Who/Townshend)

Besides SOnny Boy's version I'd have to admit I'm partial to
the version in the movie TOMMY. The view of Pete and Eric and John
marching up the aisle is pure heaven!

Now on a related note, (perhaps Mr. Fang can help out here)
they way I understand it is that the version on the Mobile Fidelity
Tommy is different because it was one of the demo versions
which was on the tape that Pete gave to MFSL. Yes? No?

Question: Does this version of the song occur anywhere else?
On a boot? On the Tommy Demos boot perhaps?

Since I have the 1cd MCA release, the 2CD polydor release, and the
new Tommy CD release, I'd hate to think I'd have to get
yet another Tommy (and at $27.98 or so) just for one song!
How would one compare the sonic differences between the MFSL Tommy
and the new Tommy?

Finally, aren't we glad they aren't called The Whom?

Cheers,
John Hamilton
