Quadrophenia remix

Can I express my contempt for MCA any more than I already have?

So, I plop down my $29.95 -- incl. tx. (talked the snot-nosed clerk down to
$27.99 from $31.99) and bring it back to my desk. Open it up and the front
cover sheet falls to the ground. Disc One, including the plastic part of the
case that holds the disc in place is missing! I sampled disc two before I
brought it back. Some quick impressions of disc 2:

WHERE THE HELL IS THE PIANO ON DROWNED???!!!!! (sorry, had to flame that)

I couldn't believe it! As much as the Who were a guitar-driven band, Drowned
is a PIANO song. Chris Stainton *made* that song. Hey, Astley: listen to it
live if you want to hear it as a guitar song.

Sea & Sand. Dizzying. The bringing forward of the three guitars in the mix
brought out some mistiming.

515: Where's the guitar? The verses (esp the responses -- i.e., the "Apple
Scrumping" parts) where all bass/drums. No guitar to be heard.

Bell Boy. At 3:46 you can hear someone overly anxious on a fader. Annoying
and unprofessional in the least. At :34, I do hear a change to the vocal
(WFang? is this what you heard?) It's not as pronounced as to what it sounds
like you're describing. But I do hear the level of the vocals decrease. Flat?
Not really. Just quieter.

That's all I've really listened to so far. Gave a skipthrough of the
remaining tracks on Disc 2 but will have to listen carefully later. They
gladly exchanged missing disc copy for their remaining copy. I'll have to
listen to disc 1 now. Especially TPMTG. But, so far, I have to say that they
could've done much MUCH better on the mixing.

Given the lack of quality-checking at MCA that I personally witnessed, is it
possible that wf ended up with a faulty pressing? Go to a chain store and
tell 'em it's screwed up and you want to exchange it for like item. The
manager should have no problem with that when you tell them you'll take your
frequent business elsewhere.
