Gary,

RE:> However, what are the chances that pagey ever even HEARD of Art
mcKay?

No good, but it's for damn sure that Robert Johnson did! Seriously, I
doubt if Page had heard that McKay's song, but Plant might have... he
has a stunning knowledge of older blues and jazz songs.... many of
which he "varied" for use in Zeppelin's songs. In fact, he'd wax
professorial in concert about bluesmen.. including Robert Johnson. In
the 4 March 1975 Dallas show, he gives a long disseration about the
lyrics of "Trampled Underfoot" and Robert Johnson's songs about motor
cars.... leading to one of my favorite Plant-ations: "Consider, for a
moment, the relativity of the motor car to the human frame... the
pumping of the pistons, the grinding of the gears..."
So, did Page ever hear about Art McKay... probably not. If he had,
however, it'd have saved them some money... after all, Art McKay's
music was in the public domain at the time they were sued....
	Every good wish--Tom Farrell
