OPENING ACT IN NYC
Bob Mould To Perform With Pete Townshend
Very odd couple.
Bob Mould was adamant that he wasn't giving any interviews, nor
would he be playing any shows to support his new self-titled solo
album which is due out on April 30. (It's his first solo work since
breaking up Sugar last year.) But all that changed, when his
long-time hero Pete Townshend requested that Mould open up for the
four shows he's playing in America to promote his greatest hits
album, Coolwalkingsmoothtalkingstraighsmokingfirestoking: The Best
Of Peter Townshend-- (out April 23). The album will feature fifteen
tracks taken from his solo albums including Empty Glass and White
City, as well as an unreleased song titled "Uneasy Street," which
was an outtake from his Psychoderelich album. Although Townshend
will be playing in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, Mould
could only make the New York shows, which will be on May 3 and May 4
at The Supper Club in Manhattan. According to Mould's label,
Rycodisk, he will primarily be performing songs from the new album,
and there's a very strong chance that he and Townshend will perform
a song together. We're betting it's Townshend's only Top 40 hit in
the country--"Let My Love Open The Door." For these shows, Townshend
will be accompanies by just one other musician.
