Who Unplugged/Hyde Park Quad
I think an unplugged with only Pete, Roger, John, Rabbit, Simon Phillips
or another capable drummer (Kenney Jones need not apply) could be an
incredible show. I can't help but thinking how different it would be if
Moon were still around, how great he was on the Who Are You video from TKAA,
for example.
Such a small venue could hopefuly produce a lot of crowd interaction and
improvisation (as I'm told occurred at early Who shows).
Some songs I'd like to hear done (in no particular order) would include:
Let's See Action
Sheraton Gibson
Getting in Tune
Love Ain't for Keeping
Helpless Dancer
I'm One
Eyesight to the Blind
New Song
Music Must Change
Cache Cache
Athena
One Life's Enough
Besides the Who standards...
I'm not sure how I feel about the new Quad show in Hyde Park. While I'd
like to see Quad get a good performance, I don't think using guest stars
is the way to do it. If people are going to see Quad, I hope they'll
want to hear Quad, not some Rock-n-roll Circus version of it. I didn't
really like the LA version of Tommy from the 1989 tour...the guest stars
were just too many annoying distractions...if it's Tommy, Quadrophenia,
Who Are You, etc., I wish it could be performed by what's left of The
Who, (Roger, Pete, John, and memories of Keith) not these glitzy
cling-ons. Oh well, money is master, is it not? I just wish it
didn't have to be...
Also, could someone please e-mail me and let me know if any of the
additional tracks on the new Who's Next are also included on the 30 years
boxed set? (sorry if I missed this info if it was posted earlier)
Thanks,
John
