The Who & PBS

          I think all the recent furor on this mailing list regarding 
          PBS's questionable decision to ignore the Who on their R and 
          R documentary is justified.  Skipping from the Stones to 
          Zeppelin probably reflects:
          
          a) the fact that those bands had albums and singles that 
          charted higher than did anything by the Who
          
          b) the fact that both bands still kind of exist--the Stones 
          are still working together in some fashion, and Page/Plant 
          have toured successfully in the U. S. recently; the Who have 
          not existed in any shape since '89 (the Daltrey sings 
          Townshend tour didn't feature Pete performing, so it must 
          not count in the eyes of PBS)
          
          So sad about us Who fans
