Well don't get picky.  OK My Generation was THE single that changed
the outlook of rock music from there on out.  I did say "watershed"
single which basically means the above.

Big Star was a band from Memphis in the early 70's that purposely
copied the mid 60's brit invasion and Byrds sound, fusing the two.
