I had a similar experience.  I was studying for an exam, listening to the 
radio as some kind of background music, perhaps it was a deliberate 
distraction :-)

Anyway, Pinball Wizard came on and I was quite enthralled..  Up until 
then I had no muscial tastes to speak of, no idols, nothing really hit me 
as being outstanding.  

I've been captivated by their music ever since owning all studio albums 
and trying to get hold of as many boots as money and the pathetic 
Australian record markets alllow.
