Thomas:

First, I don't have any figures on the sales of LAL, but I do know that it
made a big splash and got great reviews...and was selling out all over the
place. So I assume it sold big. It certainly appears that way.
Secondly, I think that the reason for the releases is definitely
money...they are in business. MCA is certainly not noble enought to release
stuff just for completists. One reason I think for these releases is to
undercut the bootlegs out there. I agree that making concerts available
through alternate sources is a good idea. The cost to the record company
would be absurdly small...the packaging for a CD costs more than the CD, and
in this case the production cost would be very, very low. They really have
nothing to lose.
Third, somehow I became "unsubscribed" to the Digest (at least I got no
notes for three days - more damned glitches in my EMail program, no doubt).
And while I have subscribed again, I would like to apologize to anyone who
has posted directly to me and not gotten an answer. I wouldn't have gotten
this note had you not also sent it directly to me.

 Cheers ML
