My theory goes back to Pete's ego.  While Roger sang lead on just about every
song, many songs were written where Roger would start singing, Pete would
sing a verse in the middle and Roger would finish the song.  Throwing in
"Take me to the Pilot" would make "Saturday Night" fit that formula.
