Tommy Road Show vs B'way

The road tour of The Who's Tommy is coming here soon and a friend asked me
the difference is between the Broadway show and the version that's touring
the US.  She didn't like my first smartass reply ("They have different
casts"), or my second ("I think Ken Russell directs instead of Des
McAnuff.  No, not really.").

I remember reading on the Who-net that the road version doesn't have the
trap door or the flying effects.  Is this true?  Or does it vary from
theater/re to theater/re?
