Re: Avoid this CD

I find it very frustrating that there are so many Who bootlegs around that
are of bad quality. There's always something wrong with them. Of course
it would be simple just to blame the greedy bootleggers for this. But I think
also that we, the fans, have to take a lot of responsibility for the quality
of bootlegs and such, because it's quite likely that this Woodstock material
has been provided by a "Who fan".
I agree. I take the slightly risky course of returning anything that is
clearly substandard, while making it clear that I am happy to buy just
about anything that is of good quality. The store where I bought
"Starring The Who?" gave me no trouble over exchanging it for something
else. I just hope the people who produced it (Silver Rarities, SIRA 63)
start getting a lot of returns and, as I said about Polydor before, "get
their act together".
I have a lot of trouble understanding the motivation for doing this.
The savings in actual videotape or audiotape must be miniscule. If it
made the difference between fitting all the music on one CD or not, that
would be at least an understandable reason, although I still wouldn't
buy it.
