Ok..

The car cost a few pennies under 26,000.
That was with the extended warranty (1500).

KBB.com, says it is worth 21450 retail
Rated excellent, which it is, trade in is 17,035.

I don't know why 17.5 seems fair.
Just convinces me more that VW does 
not hold any resale value.  I will most likely
never own one again.  Too many 'utilitarian'
Jettas on the highway to justify this one.
To me, FUN (does not =) FRONT WHEEL DRIVE.
I'll stick to my rx-7, the wife will have to
drive the Jeep cherokee.  Probably 
pick up some other 4X4 for the winter months.
