In case anyone was wondering, I used Universal Red Engine (heat
resistant) spray enamel on the calipers, although I hear the heat
resistant stuff isn't needed. I applied 3 coats allowing 40 minutes
drying between coats. Prep was per the discussion with Doug.
As for the engine cover, I used FLAT red testors enamel (model paint).
I heard that with the gloss paint it never quite looks like you get
complete coverage (an illusion). My wife did most of the engine
cover. She's a dental hygienist and consequently has the steady hands
needed for such a tedious task.
Best advice I can give is follow Doug's directions for prep and TAKE
YOUR TIME. Its an all day job but you will be satisfied with the
result.
