Vescey made some pretty interesting comments tonight on NBA-TV. First, apparently Peter has talked to Paul recently and Paul is very concerned with the team's direction. He told Peter he was wondering how old he would be once Danny's 'masterplan' came to fruition (specifically asking Vescey how old Jordan was when he started winning his championships). Paul also openly questioned (according to Vescey, remember) why Mihm and Davis weren't starting and playing more (at which point Vescey interjected that the proposed Mihm/Mills for Howard/somebody else was another head-scratcher in the sense that once again Danny was trading expiring contracts for long-term contracts in a deal where the talent exchanged is either a wash or slightly disadvantageous from the C's perspective...). Paul also made the statement to Vescey that he thought the Celtics had perpetrated three of the worst trades in the past 20 years by trading Joe Johnson in the Rogers/Delk trade, by trading Kenny/Vitaly in the Baker deal, and by trading Antoine this past October. All in all, Vescey said he was surprised about the tone of Paul's comments; from reading what the local papers report, Vescey had formerly been under the impression that Paul was taking the changes well. Not so anymore, Vescey concluded.
Of course, this entire post has a caveat in the form of Peter Vescey, noted purveyor of falsehoods and half-truths. Nonetheless, very interesting.
Ryan
