Pierce vs. Carter

The Pierce vs. Carter battle was pretty fun to watch. There was a 
point when Pierce took it in and got blocked by Carter twice.
In general, Pierce looked like he played good man-to-man defense
on Carter, who hit some pretty tough shots on him anyways. When 
Pierce got an alley-oop slam, he got whistled for a technical.
I wonder what the deal was with that? Did he say something to Carter,
or give him a "taunting look" a la Walker?
