Not necessarily.  I remember when the San Antonio Spurs led the league in 
offense for a couple years straight, led by George Gervin.  They were a 
run and gun team that couldn't stop anyone from scoring.  When playoff 
time rolled around, the Eastern Conference teams were always able to play 
better defense and knock the Spurs out.
