Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist and rock icon Pete Townshend attended the revival production of his seminal rock opera TOMMY at the Stratford Festival in Canada last night and joined the cast onstage for the curtain call.

Townshend won the 1993 for Best Score for his work on TOMMY - an honor shared that year with co-winners John Kander and Fred Ebb for their work on KISS OF THE SPIDERWOMAN - and the musical itself was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, winning for Score, Choreography, Direction, Scenic and Lighting Design.

The Stratford Festival's production of TOMMY is directed by original Broadway helmer Des McAnuff, who won a Tony for his work on the original production (one of two that night).

TOMMY stars Robert Markus, Paul Nolan and Jeremy Kushnier. The production is currently in previews and officially opens on May 30, running through October 19.

Visit the official Stratford Festival website here.

Additionally, Townshend will appear with cast members and fellow creative team participants from the revival production on Q Radio tomorrow morning. More information is available here.
