Roger Daltrey will embark on a solo tour of North America for the first time in nearly 25 years this October.

The Who frontman will hit the road to play smaller venues than his day job has permitted in recent years, and he's promised a mix of "his versions" of Who classics, cover versions and some of his own solo material (some of which has never been performed live). The tour will be used "to keep my voice in trim, so I'll be ready," Daltrey explains on The Who's official website. "Those songs demand a lot of voice!"

"I thought it'd be nice to play smaller, more intimate venues," Daltrey said in a statement. "I look forward to getting back to that. I want to give people a good night out. The economic situation being what it is these days, I think that's what they want: to go out and feel they've had a good jolly-up."

Daltrey will be joined on the "Use It Or Lose It" Tour by a longtime collaborator, guitarist/backup singer Simon Townshend ("His harmonies work beautifully with my voice," Daltrey notes), and a stellar crew of American players, including guitarist/musical director Frank Simes, keyboardist Loren Gold, bassist Jon Button and drummer Scott Devours.
