HEY CAMPERS,

THURSDAY, 13 TH MARCH 2008, CHILDLINE CHARITY-INDIGO 2 AT THE O 2, LONDON

CHILDLINE ROCKS CHARITY TOOK PLACE AT THE INDIGIO2 AT THE O2 (THE DOME) IN
LONDON ON THURSDAY 13 TH MARCH 2008, FEATURING ROGER
DALTREY,LULU,MARILLION,THUNDER.FISH,IAN PAICE,GLENN HUGHES,THE ZOMBIES,RUSS BALLARD AND PRESENTED AND
ORGANISED BY BOB HARRIS (OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST PRESENTER AND RADIO 2 D.J.)

ROGER WAS THE LAST OF THE ACTS TO APPEAR SPORTING A BLACK WAIST COAT, BLACK
TROUSERS AND A WHITE SHIRT AND HIS HAIR WAS SHORT AND NEAT. HE OPENED WITH
2,000 YEARS. HIS VOICE WAS IN TOP FORM AND HIS GUITAR PLAYING WAS BRILLIANT, HE
KNEW EVER CHORD! RUSS BALLARD KEPT TIME BY DRUMMING HIS GUITAR NECK. ROGER
SAID HE WANTED TO TRY OUT THIS SONG LIVE. IT WAS GREAT FOR US WHO FANS , BUT
THE REST OF THE AUDIENCE WAS BORED. THAN ROGER SANG THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT. IT
WAS THE EXTENDED VERSION WITH THE USUAL WE ARE THE WHO, BUT NOW WE ARE THE
TWO. EVEN IF YOUR IN PERU..HE KEPT LOOKING AT RUSS FOR REASSURANCE AS HE DOES
WITH PETE. THAN MR. DALTREY LEFT THE STAGE AND LEFT THE OTHER MUSICIANS IN A
PICKLE. THEY SARTED TO PLAY THE OPENING CHORDS OF BEHIND BLUE EYES AND ROGER
DISSAPPEARED. AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO, ROGER REAPPEARED AND SAID IT WILL HAPPEN
TO YOU TOO! MEANING HE FORGOT HE WAS GOING TO DO ANOTHER TUNE. HE SANG BEHIND
BLUE EYES WONDERFULLY. AS FOR THE GRAND FINALE,"WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY
FRIENDS", EVERY MUSICIAN WHO APPEARED ON STAGE IN THE EVENING SUNG ALONG TO THE
TUNE WITHOUT THE AID OF MR. DALTREY. (WHY??????????)

AS FOR THE GIG ITSELF, THUNDER WAS THE HOUSE BAND. THE ZOMBIES PLAYED THREE
SONGS AND WHERE IN TOP FORM. ROD ARGENT PLAYED A KILLER HAMMOND! ARGENT PLAYED
WITH RUSS BALLARD FOR "HOLD YOUR HEAD UP". THE CROWD WENT WILD! BOTH
MARILLION AND FISH NEVER REFORMED AND PLAYED THEIR OWN SETS. LULU WAS GREAT. SHOUT
WAS A BLINDER! GLENN HUGHES WAS BACK ON THE STAGE WITH OLD BAND MATE IAN PAICE
AND PLAYED TWO TUNES FROM THE DEEP PURPLE ALBUM "BURN". RUSS BALLARD PLAYED
"SINCE YOU BEEN GONE" AND THE AUDIENCE WAS IN AWE! BOB HARRIS REMARKED THIS
GIG IS "LIKE LISTENING TO YOUR OLD RECORD COLLECTION". HE ALSO, REMARKED THAT
HE REMEMBERS ROGER PLAYING WITH RUSS ON THE OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST.

BEST REGARDS TO ALL,

MELISSA & GARY HURLEY
