Film shoot would put cove on the map
By Laura Kitching

A £7.2 MILLION film adaptation of the book Emma of Lulworth Cove is due to begin shooting in Purbeck in November.

Author Ray Stokes, who is also set to produce the movie, said he was in talks with the Lulworth Estate over filming.

Stars lined up for the picture include Roger Daltrey and Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films.

Actress Sara Paxton is set to take the title role, which was originally considered for Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Mr Stokes said: "The film is scheduled to be shot in November.

"We've got quite a job on to get everything ready for then and the worst-case scenario would see filming begin next March."

The plot, set in Lulworth, tells the story of a ghost who falls in love with a man in the village and returns to haunt him after he marries another woman.

Mr Stokes said they had considered filming on location in Romania, but preferred to stay in Britain.

Mike Canby, assistant property manager for the Lulworth Estate, said they were in talks over terms and conditions of filming.

He said: "Costs of filming on location here vary enormously. A big budget film might be charged £2,500 a day but it depends.

"Quite often we forgo fees to get coverage for something that would be an excellent advert of the cove and estate."

Mr Stokes and his company Newcomen Productions are still looking for a British investor.

The musical score for the picture is likely to be done by Bournemouth University.
