Jazz Bass vs. P-Style Bass

It's the amp/speaker more than the bass responsible for the sound.  What you 
really need is one (or two) of those old Marshall stacks. :) John used both 
Jazz and P-basses in the 60s.  Though he used P-basses most of the time and
