Yep, that's the Odds & Sods song I had in mind.  Although I was actually
thinking of this line:

"I know your man is into playing jazz bass, I tried that myself but I need
more space"

(I confess had to check Google for that line; it wasn't sung very clearly,
but I knew it mentioned "bass" in it somewhere.)
