Romeo and Juliet with a difference filmed in Skeg

A PRODUCTION of Romeo and Juliet, based on a Quadrophenia-style theme, has been part-filmed in Skegness.
Many locals looked on in amazement as Mods and Rockers wrestled with each other on the beach.

The action was taking place as part of the filming of sequences by Yarborough School in Lincoln for its unusual production of Romeo and Juliet.

Jimmy, Stef and the other main film characters were all played by Yarborough students, with local scooterists from the Lincolnshire Scooter Alliance and bikers from Halfway Heroes MCC as extras.

The sight of Mods and Rockers riding up and down the streets was only surpassed by the beach battle scenes that were re-enacted on the sands.

Extras were asked to act the events out in a serious vein, but this was not to be and remarks like 'I've lost my glasses' and 'Has anyone seen my wallet?' were followed by outbursts of uncontrollable laughter.

l The production will be performed at the Drill Hall, Lincoln, on Monday, February 5.
The evening's entertainment consists of four school plays.

Tickets, priced at £8 each, are available from the Drill Hall, tel 01522 873894. For more information, visit http://www.lincolndrillhall.com.
