Hey all,
Just waking up after the show last night. Had a great time with my old friend & his teenage son. Went & hung out at the Harp for a little while and met a few of you all. I'll be in NY tomorrow and should have more time to actually *talk* to whoever's there. I did *not* see anyone in a boiler suit, though. MC, what happened to you? Were you there?
It was somewhat surreal to see the band playing all this new material. I'm not sure if I really believed it before now. The crowd really quiets down when they play it. I can see why Pete feels like he does.
I was happy they played Mike Post, although Roger screwed it up completely near the end. Pete & Rog had a good laugh about it. Pete was in a really good mood the whole night. They were joking around before Behind Blue Eyes and had to try to start it about four times. Pete finally says, "OK, let's fucking play fucking Behind Blue Eyes." Funniest song intro I've ever seen.
I think I expected more from Fragments. From this one listen, it was more You Better You Bet than Baba O'Riley. I hadn't heard Black Widow's Eyes yet, either. That one sounded good, but it's really hard to understand the lyrics when you don't know the song. Thanks to whoever send that link with Tea & Theater. The song is custom made to end the show. It's too sentimental, though, with all the "we're getting older" and "there's two of us now" feelings. I don't really want to go home with tears in my eyes, you know?
Anyway, the price for all the new stuff is a lot of classics missing. I'd have rather not had *both* YBYB *and* EF. Pick one and give me something like Naked Eye. And, why are they still playing Real Good Looking Boy??? The Cry If You Want part of My Generation was interesting. They just keep playing the MG jam and sing the CIYW lyrics. It's not just a few lines as I expected, it's more like half the song.
OK, just enough time to decompress before starting all over again.
