I thought I had sent a comment in here along with the clip links, but I 
don't see it, so here's what I had to say about the incident on TheShout.  
Additionally, if Amanda is trying to get a show business/music career going, 
then mention in Rolling Stone is quite a boost, not an invasion of her 
privacy.  The whole thing looks like a crock to me.

Again, I haven't heard or seen what he said about her, but I think we should 
all remember that what we publish about ourselves on the Internet and 
appearances we make put us in the category of public figures. You all know 
about that, right? Celebrities, politicians, etc. aren't granted the same 
rights to privacy as normal citizens because they have put themselves before 
the public in such a way as to become persons of interest to the press. Then 
Letterman and Leno are allowed to make jokes about you, and other 
celebrities will talk about you in their interviews, etc.

So, Amanda posted a provocative picture of herself on her blog comments 
wherein she had huge bangers, appeared on an episode of ITA, and then 
carried on a relationship with a demi-celebrity that was publicly tracked. 
The question arises as to whether she has given up her rights to privacy as 
a normal citizen by these public actions and whether other public figures 
like Leno, Letterman and Townshend are within their rights to comment on her 
appearances.

I personally think Mom was out of line to fuss about her daughter's privacy 
when Amanda carried on as above.
