To which Kevin in VT went really overboard and said:
> I simply don't know what motivates a person to make disparaging comments

and

Sorry Kevin, but I think you're wrong here.
If Jim (or anyone else) doesn't like something about Endless Wire, then
they're perfectly entitled (and should be encouraged) to say so on this
list. It's good to get an alternate viewpoint. Well done for Jim for
speaking his mind, and not just following the crowd, or - worse still -
choosing the path of silence.
> But damn, what sort of reaction were you looking for??
My reaction to Jim's original post went something like:
- OK, I can see where he's coming from.
- I can see how it may seem uneven on first listen.
- The first time I heard the (downloaded) versions of some of the songs
(say, Its Not Enough), I felt a bit unsure about them too.
- maybe Jim didn't hear many of the downloadable or Encore versions of
songs first. Maybe he's hearing all the songs for the first time. Maybe he
just needs a bit of time to catch up.
- my conclusion was: he'll come round to our way of thinking after a few
(loud) listens.
Even though Endless Wire is, you know, A TRIUMPH, there are a few songs that
I'm not still not sure about. Namely: In the Ether, Trilby's Piano, and
Fragments of Fragments. These songs could go either way: I could still end
up loving or hating these songs.

Not this time. :-D
