Endless Wire

I'm not going to do a song-by-song breakdown. I played the DVD in order to get myself psyched up for it and then listened through it once, straight through, yesterday after I bought it (as I said, I got the version with the album and the 5-song DVD).

It's good to hear new music from Pete and Roger, together, unified in whatever fashion they're can ever be said to be unified. There are some really good moments on this album.

And there are some weak moments. Pete should stay away from playing drums.

It's a spotty record, like FACE DANCES and IT'S HARD.

But what's good is very, very good (despite the very noticeable lack of John Entwistle). The WIRE AND GLASS mini-opera is overall good.

Best songs: "It's Not Enough," "Black Widow's Eyes," "Mirror Door," and "Man In A Purple Hat" (would love to have heard a full band version of it). MIKE POST THEME...I'll need to hear it again.

To sum it up, it's better that there is a "Who" record than there not being one.

Now as to the DVD...it's a nice addition, but I'm not sure it now becomes a mandatory part of the Who canon. I spun it through twice...going off those recollections, it seemed a bit sloppy. For some reason, I'm finding myself less and less impressed with Zak. Has he become too comfortable?
