The Who wanted to play in Cumbria

ROCK legends The Who inquired about playing in Cumbria
it has been revealed - and it would have been just one
of seven gigs in England.

But unfortunately Carlisle Sands Centre could not
accommodate the band on the date they had requested in
June.

The Who are performing at festivals this year and are
touring in the UK and Europe. Original band members
Roger Daltrey, Keith Moon and Pete Townshend are in
the line-up.

Ian Congdon, Sands Centre entertainments manager, said
it's the nature of the industry that sometimes
confirmed bookings could not be cancelled in order to
accommodate others. "We did all we could to
accommodate their request but it just wasn't
possible," he said.
