Rabbit as Whofan

>Especially since Dave kindly produced the interview clip by Rabbit
himself, we're left to understand that Rabbit simply isn't a Who
fan. He plays what he has to (and quite well, I hasten to add), then
goes about his business. At this point, the presumption is that he
knows NO Who songs that haven't been on a setlist.
Since Rabbit has played The Who's music all these years, I think we can
safely assume he's not offended by it. Also, I think the performance
opportunities make him fairly eager to tour with Roger and Pete. Pete has
also said good things about Rabbit's virtuosity, as in: Rabbit can actually
play the things Pete hears in his head. However, I think it's obvious that
Rabbit has little or no creative input into The Who's music, and also we
know that he's often forgotten when people (including Pete and Matt) talk
about the band.
Does this mean he's so dependable they forget about him? They consider him
a hired hand and not really part of the band? Whatever, it's easy to
understand that Rabbit actually prefers working in creative situations where
he composes and otherwise materially contributes.
Another consideration for this discussion, I don't think Roger and Pete go
home and listen to the Who's CDs, either. They like to play the music
onstage, but not listen to the recordings. It's likely Roger doesn't even
know what Pete's got squirreled away in his vault. He's not a Whofan in
that sense, either.
