"Made a lot" isn't the right way to describe this.  Roger isn't quite as 
rich as Pete, but he's certainly not hurting for income.  The point is that 
The Who is Roger's creation and he tries to look after it.

This just empahsizes that bands are a business entity aside from the 
members.  It certainly is the norm that an orchestra or a band can hire and 
fire employees, and continue to exist as long as there's interest in the 
music.
