IAC - Pete as an independent artist

I think it was Keets who brought up the topic of Pete as an independent
artist on the IAC, and I wanted to throw in my bit as well.

I've been on the IAC for about 7-months now as a member of Electric
Forgiveness with Rabbit. We've had 4 Top Ten singles in the Electronica
charts, and one of those songs actually made it #23 in the overall chart,
the same week that Pete and Rachel had a track at #25....granted, their song
had been in the Top Ten for nearly a month, and our residence in the top 25
was for only a week, but it gave me a great since of accomplishment to even
be on the same chart with such talented and established artists.

The fact of the matter is that without Pete and Rachel's involvement in the
IAC, we, and I suspect a large number of other artists, would have never
discovered the IAC of thier own valition. Pete and Rachel, along with other
established artists such as Ani Difranco, Suzanne Vega, and The Church can
be found at any given week alongside a gargage band from South Carolina, a
techno artist from New York, or a Blues singer from the Delta. How could
anyone find anything wrong with that? How much exposure would Billboard
have given these types of artists?

Electric Forgiveness started out as a side project that Rabbit and I started
working on while Third Of Never, (my day job - Rabbit played keys on some
tracks), finished up the recording on our debut album. Third Of Never is a
rock and roll band, and I had been dabbling in Electronica as a hobby. Once
Rabbit and I had some tracks completed, we put them up on IAC, and seven
months later, two of the tracks are still in the Electronic Chart Top Ten.
The success of those tracks gave us the confidence to collect 12 of the
tracks that we'd completed and put an album together, which we are doing.
The point is that we were made aware of the IAC because of Rachel and Pete
talkling about it on their blogs. I have myself convinced a few musician
friends of mine to put their stuff up there, and they have also had great
results with their tracks (CJ Grogan, BK LaRue...check 'em out).

The ripple effect is alive and well. The IAC is a case of trickle-down
economics actually working. Once the Third Of Never album is done, we'll be
bombarding the IAC, and it's all Pete and Rachel's fault.
