So, it went off pretty well. I thought they looked a bit tired, and Roger
complained about the venue in East Berlin. Apparently it was quite run down
with poor acoustics, and Roger seemed to be zoned out and having problems
with his hearing. However, a fan review said it was a very good show.
They played "Mike Post" and WGFA, with a false start on MP, as Roger said
his voice wasn't awake yet (at 7:00 p.m. Berlin time?). Then they took
questions from the press in NYC and discussed the new music a bit. Pete
said the audience was always the inspiration for his music and Roger said it
had the usual Townshend magic.
Pete mentioned that the Method Site should be running in August. Other
items of interest (list stolen from Whochat Forum):
- "A Man In A Purple Dress" will be on the album
- The album won't be called "WHO2". Pete's going to think about a new title.
- Special themed shows for "Tommy", "Quadrophenia" and "Wire & Glass" could
be a possibility.
- "Wire & Glass" wasn't played because the band played festivals and
according to Roger, there are a lot of young people out there who want to
hear the hits. They had wanted to play the piece in Berlin, but they
couldn't rehearse. They did play "Endless Wire" though!
- Rarities will be played, but some tracks just don't work on the stage.
Pete was pleased with "Here For More".
About the process for naming albums, Roger said it was Pete's turn. So then
Pete said, if that was so, he'd think about it a bit more seriously.
