Instrumentally, Cheap Trick are so like The Who-> it is amazing.
If you are a musician you will understand what I mean. Listen to
CT's first album, the track MANDOCELLO is SO Who->Like and
even incorporates a little Pete-ish solo from 5:15 on Quadrophenia.
I've seen CT almost as many times as The Who-> and, when you
strip them of the little radio friendly ditties, there is a band SO
HEAVY and SO TALENTED.
Not to offend, but, ANY "CT" album will have attributes in abundance
that are similar and very like The Who->, IF one has ears that listens
to the *music* and not the pop lyrics (which is not to say that CT is
all pop, as anyone who has ever played a whole lp will tell you).
Wanna great, Who->Like "CT" track?
"Daddy Should Have Stayed In High School"
or
"Oh Candy"
..speaking of OH CANDY .... when CT played it on NYE 1979-80,
I could have die right then and there, happily.
I fuckin' Love Cheap Trick...!
AEB~
