..........as one who has attended single shows as well as
multiple shows per tour, including:
'69 - Hollywood Palladium/Shrine Exposition Hall
'71 - Forum/LongBeach/SanDiego,
'73 - 22/23 Nov. Forum back to back nights
'76 - Anaheim (spring) & San Diego (fall)
'00 - Hollywood Bowl/Shoreline
'02 - Hollywood Bowl/Irvine
I can honestly say that, depending on whether your seating differs
greatly between shows, the experience diminishes in it's intensity
and excitement the more familiar one becomes, and the ability to
predict setlists/actions onstage are realised.
But, those single shows in '67/'68/'70 remain unparalleled in my
memory, and, those are my favourite eras of live performance
without synth/keys backing them.
After LAL and with the exception of "The Fallout Shelter Tour"
everything has been, well, predictable.
I know that most of you will say how much I should have gone
to see this tour. I originally chose not to attend, then life thru
us a curveball and my wife got ill again, had to have surgery and
we opted to not be that far from home for her safety...then
my brother who announced that he was taking us to Reno or
Fresno in Feb. '07, dropped the ball....oh well...
FWIW, Kev O has now taken FIRST PLACE WHO-> FAN on the
"igtc" list, imo. His excitement is incredible. (mc's now too busy
calculating billable hours)
