Pete said it best 40 years ago "The Power of Volume". :)  Volume can mask 
vocal limitations.

I thought he sounded better than I expected he would in Atlanta. I also 
wondered while I was listening what he would sound like on the encore discs.

I wonder how long he can keep going.  It may be one of the reasons they are 
cutting the tour short, per Pete's last diary.  They will have done 60 odd 
shows this year. That's a third more than they did in '82.
