altered states of others...

I had a mini show going on in the box next to me at the bowl show/'06.
This couple showed up beer buzzed and buying drinks for anyone and everyone. They had matching Who tie dyed shirts. I thought they must be big fans. Cool.
Show started and they were VERY happy. Next thing I know, during the show, Mr. Drunk is asking me questions about Pete and Endless Wire and what it means and my opinion on everything Who under the son.
My lack of lengthy answers (and not paying much attention to him at all), he starts trying to tell me about his friend that works at NASA and how there are so many things going on out there that we don't know about. Cue Twilight music.
Luckily, the wife starts making out with him after this. Keeps him out of my face. I go back to blissfully enjoying the show.
Next thing I know, the wife is crying. Then she is gone. Then he is gone. Yes!!
The show is over and I'm talking to another sober fan about Pschoderelict and Mr. Drunk shows back up, now he can't find his wife, asks if we seen her.
Moving along next to them with the crush of people to the parking lot, I overhear Mr. Drunk telling a stranger with no escape. "Not the best Who concert I've seen before". I'm thinking, what part do you remember "seeing"?
That is fine. But, I bet if he hadn't been so beer drunk, he might of enjoyed it a little more. I can't say I would have, because in spite of him (and his beer breath), I thoroughly enjoyed the show.
I've sat next to worse scenerios before. In '04, another drunk, while putting his arm around his girlfriend, clocked me in the chin with his fist. That sucked.

Subject: Roger's Voice and altered states...

Not me!!!!!!!!!!
The shows are great no matter what!!!!!!!!
Just busting your chops a bit, Chris.
Really the two altered states should be separated for discussion purposes.
>From experience having a good alcohol buzz and being high doesn't detract my
ability to objectively judge a show.
If anything, my senses are on a heightened level of awareness.
It's not a false sense of awareness, but a keen one. Not much gets by me.
Getting "drunk" is another thing.
If you're really drunk, you're likely not enjoying anything around you, and
anything around you is likely not enjoying you.
I've been 'over the line' once at a show, and while I was still able to
enjoy what I was experiencing, I knew I wouldn't remember a thing. Sure
enough.
It hasn't happened since.
>by this time I was so freaked out that he might have been backstage dying
>that I
>was somewhat oblivious to that and the Tommy section.
You sure you didn't get a contact high???
Did you have an uncontrollable urge to go get popcorn??
;-)
