well, at least on the radio they can say who the artist is and what album and 
such. for TV ads, it's like "incidental music" and no one knows where it 
comes from.  some songs I didn't know it was a current rock band until, yep that's 
right, I heard it on the radio.  sad that these "classic rock" bands' new 
stuff can never be heard on the radio, but that' what Little steven is for. ; )   
   although there are some cases where a classic rock band released something 
new and the classic rock station plays it. but, like I was listening this 
morning and I heard cheap trick's "I want you to want me" and my thought was, 
"what, nothing from their new album?"  y know.
