it's interesting. i'm sure densmore would've toured with them if he wanted
to, but chose not to. but I think there were some health problems with densmore,
something to do with his arms and he couldn't drum. maybe he left the "doors
of the 21st century" thing alone until his lawyers came along and reminded
him that he owns some of the "doors" name too and touring without his consent
was, in those regards, illegal. I dunno. lotta possibilities.

in the end, I'd rather have the who release live albums and books and such
instead of constantly hearing their music in commerials. "Who's next" was like,
my fav album out of all the rest and now it's sunk to the top 20 or so because
practically the entire album (cept for a few tracks anyway) are always being
heard in commercials and/or TV shows. first it was "bargain", now "baba o'
riley" is being used to promote some football film with mark wahlberg (although,
music in films is not something i'm against at all. watch "goodfellas" and
you'll see my point), "won't get fooled again" was used for "CSI", I think the
instrumental break in "behind blue eyes" was used for something wasn't it?
"going mobile" was used too in a car ad. let's see, "song is over" chorus to
promote some other automobile might be next (imagine it riding on some mountain
plateau with that song in the background. like anyone out there reading this will
actually drive a car on top of a mountain.. "getting in tune" could be good
for this also). how 'bout "my wife" for "midol"?

springsteen's another artist known for not putting his songs in ads, nor many
films or TV shows. although he joked about a springsteen model iPod idea
whilst inducting U2 into the rock n' roll hall of fame. other than the iPod
thing, I can't recall hearing a U2 song
in a TV ad. oh yeah, there was an ad for the world cup this year that had a
U2 song in it. but they're irish, they get away with it. ; )
