very interesting that they had pete in interview but no roger. what's up with
that I ask you? no godfrey either..

i'm not sure if the interview with John featured in the documentary was
exactly his last, considering that I remember seeing pieces of it when VH1 had a
"where are they now?" profile on him in 1999.

it's nice to see something like this that showcases John's extreme bass
playing talent that will never be surpassed. also, John the person, his flaws and
good points mashed up together. of course, John's mother and her wonderful
anecdotes. the bonus features that include home movies of John and John's estate
and performances from woodstock 99 and somewhere in detroit, and John's son
chris of course, whom I never saw really until this.

somewhat eerie hearing John discussing the who carrying on following keith's
death knowing in a few year's time, pete and roger would have the same fate.
plus, that John and keith were very close. makes you wonder if keith got
lonely after a long while and that's when John joined him. ha. plus, the things
around John's house and John talking about them, knowing it all ended up being
sold at auction.

one thing that wasn't showcased was John's dark sense of humor. although in
the home movies there was a brief glimpse of a skeleton with a cornet in its
mouth. that's as close as it got. plus, the buzzard that he designed. they did
mention John's rigs and all, but nothing on the infamous buzzard itself. oh
well.

funny that ray manzarek from the doors talked about what a great bassist John
was. why is it funny? cause the doors never had a bass player, and John
wasn't a doors fan because of that! ha.

anyway, yes. it's highly recommended. makes you miss and remember the ol'
bugger. ; )

Long Live the ox!
