It certainly could have caused the pixelation.  I don't know why the audio
would have suffered.  What did you use to do the conversion?<<<<

Conversion might of been the wrong term.

I slipped the DVD into my brother's APEX DVD player which plays PAL format 
and pressed play and pressed record on his Panasonic DVD recorder onto a blank 
DVD-R.So I have
it on a disc which will play in all of our DVD players.What we really should 
do is
just get all APEX DVD players for the three rooms.
