These CSI themes do sell the song, don't they? This person is in for a real
treat when he/she hears the whole thing, eh?

JOURNAL REPORTER

Q. Can you please tell me the title and performer of the theme melody for
the TV series CSI: New York? - B.C.

A. The song is "Baba O'Riley" by The Who.

The CSI franchise has a tradition of using songs by The Who as theme songs.
The theme of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is "Who Are You" and the theme
of CSI: Miami is "Won't Get Fooled Again."

CSI creator Anthony Zuiker had wanted to use a different Who song, "Behind
Blue Eyes," for CSI: New York, but CBS president Les Moonves wanted "Baba
O'Riley" to be used as the theme song instead.

All three songs are available on The Who: The Ultimate Collection, a two-CD
set from MCA Records.

Soundtrack albums are also available for both CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
and CSI: Miami. No soundtrack has been released yet for CSI: New York.
