Can anyone think of another band who was songs varied so much in regard to
subject matter? If one thinks about it, The Who has been absolutely all over
the map. Love songs, sex songs, party songs, teen rage songs, sci-fi,
instumentals, "rock" songs, story songs, social comment songs, silly songs, macabre
songs, blues, etc, etc. I can't think of another band that has been so
multi-dimensional and at the same time so popular and so kick-ass live. Aerosmith and
Stones- sex, sex, sex. Beatles- love songs and drug songs and a few social
commentaries. ACDC- rock, sin, and sex. Zeppelin- far east mystic, blues, and
folk. Maybe David Bowie could rival The Who. Any other thoughts?
