Showing they still can rock 'n' roll, Roger Daltrey
and guitarist Pete Townshend, two
original members of the Who, wowed the crowd at the
Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Wednesday night, mixing
longtime fan favorites and new releases from their 40
years as a top rock band. More than 4,000 fans packed
the A&B Amphitheater for the show that had the
audience up on its feet from the start of the show.
With a warm and nearly windless night to keep the
sound from blowing away, the Who played not only to
the fans jammed in the A&B Amphitheater but also to
the several thousand residents around Kahului and
Wailuku who couldn't help but hear the band rocking
through the evening. Along with Daltrey and Townshend,
the band featured keyboardist John "Rabbit" Bundrick;
Pete's brother, Simon Townshend, also on guitar;
drummer Zak Starkey, son of Ringo Starr; and bassist
Pino Palladino.
