Who's next for Cardiff? Apr 29 2004

ONE of the greatest rock bands of them all is coming to Cardiff for their
first concert in the capital for more than 30 years.

The Who today announced two UK shows in the run-up to their return to the
Isle of Wight Festival this summer.

And one of the concerts is at the Cardiff International Arena - with the
6,700 tickets going on sale tomorrow.

The legendary Who will play the Cardiff Arena on Thursday, June 10, three
nights after the only other British date in Birmingham.

Led by original members of the '60s supergroup Roger Daltrey and Pete
Townshend, the line-up will also include Cardiff-born guitarist Pino
Palladino.

Pino, who was brought up in the Pentrebane area of the city, has taken the
place of original Who guitarist John Entwhistle who died on tour in the
States last year.

The band, who last played in Cardiff at the Sophia Gardens Pavilion in
October 1970, will be warming up for their UK concerts with a sell-out show
in New York's Madison Square Garden.

Tickets for The Who in Cardiff are £32.50 (subject to booking fee) and are
on sale locally from 10am tomorrow at the Cardiff International Arena box
office on Cardiff 029 2022 4488, and Ticketline UK on 029 2023 0130.
