Rondos not great defensively . Agreed besides Lin (overpaid)and Asik would need Terrence Jones and Smith

The one hole Lin won't fill is the Rondo-sized one you're creating in this hypothetical trade. Defense is half the game, buster, and Rondo's the best goddamned player in that deal. If we're going to bandy about fake trades, at least make them involve the Cs getting the best player in the deal.

Lin is a nice creator off the dribble and a streaker shooter. He's got a nice BBIQ. His defense is average at best (and that's only to the extent that he can execute the team defense--his one-on-one defense will always suck). Moving our best player and our best scorer for Asik, Lin, Chandler, a failed draft pick and a pick from Houston would be a huge step backwards. It's not even clear Lin is a starter on a championship team!

I like Asik too. If I'm trying to get him, I'd offer Bass and Fav and a pick for Asik and Greg Smith. Fav would be perfect for the role behind Howard (and cost controlled for 3 years), and Bass could slot in nicely at PF. If the deal got expanded, I'd be looking to acquire Patrick Beverly--you know, the undrafted free agent who's been outplaying Jeremy Lin since last year.
