Doc hints Eddie might play

God, Doc is even screwing up the no-brainers these
days. First, why tell the press you might bench Sam
for Eddie? It's not like they asked the question.
Doc volunteered the information. So, now Cleveland
knows and can gameplan a little bit. Second, Sam is
actually playing pretty well at home. Why not try to
ride that? Even if you think that Eddie is now the
answer and should be getting the back-up point minutes
the rest of the series, why not give Cassell the
chance to see if he's hitting in the 2nd quarter (give
him 2 minutes or 2 shots, whatever comes sooner).
It's not like you can't bring Eddie in two minutes
later. Third, it seems like you're systematically
ruining everyone's confidence on this team. Next
stop, Sam Cassell. Let's just give some unsolicited
tidbit to the press about how Sam just might get
benched next game. That'll help. The more Doc talks,
the more I think he's just covering his ass.

This is not to say I don't agree with the move. It's
just that it could have been handled a lot more
smoother. If we lose, I suppose we'll hear that Doc's
going to dust off Tony because Ray isn't hitting or
playing any defense on Wally. Just make your moves
Doc; don't broadcast them beforehand.
