TA and the officiating

JB, thanks for reposting the mike martin post
highlighting the 9.33 point per game disadvantage. We
all know there's something going on with the
officiating and it's nice to have a stat that pretty
much encapsulates the injustice.
Yes, Red would have made a stink, and we know Tommy
would have. But what will it take to make Doc go
bonkers? Is money or reputation that important to
him? Criticizing the officiating through the media
works, and all the very very good, HOF coaches do it
(Riley, Popovich, Phil Jackson, etc...) or have done
it. We've got an air-tight case here, and Doc doesn't
have to get too nasty, but he has to state the
obvious. Doc is not fighting back, and it's that lack
of killer instinct that's killing the team as a whole.
We need a galvanizer, something to rally around
because it is really us against the world. If we're
lucky enough to get past Atlanta on Sunday, we NEED a
fair shake on the officiating in the Cleveland series
if we have any hope of getting past them. If I'm Doc,
and we win on Sunday, I use the post-game press
conference to blast the officiating. It'll take the
pressure off the team, start a debate on the
officiating, and hopefully give us a chance to even
the playing field. All that for only $50,000.
And if there's one thing that Doc could use, it would
be a mean streak. His passivity is infecting this
team. If I'm a Celtic, seeing my coach tiptoe around
an obvious injustice because he's afraid to get fined
doesn't exactly inspire me for the next game or the
rest of the playoffs.
