Seems like Doc listened to you, at least a little bit. A little more
bench but especially very neat offense with roles much more defined;
first go into the paint with PP and KG; later as we needed to open them
up, the outside shot from Ray Allen. All this with the goal of slowing
the down the pace; the Hawks are not a very good slow down offense
team. They relish the out of control, speed and high-flying game. Also
a smathering of inserting more guys. Not totally perfect on that;
certainly it's hard to come in after not having played for 2 weeks (Tony
and House especially, and I'm not convinced on Powe as the 1st man off
the bench for KG) but it's a start. Great job by Doc in organizing the
team.

If you

I think the saying is that 'fatigue makes cowards of us all.'
Playing scared, playing not to lose, not running the ball, not getting
easy hoops, missing wide open shots, defense coming unraveled --- all of
these can be trace to fatigue to some degree or another. Neither Garnett
nor Ray Allen had a break throughout the entire second half in game
four.... no surprise neither had much left in the tank in the 4th
quarter either.
We have been successful all year using the bench liberally to spell the
top guys, keep the defensive intensity up, and in presenting different
looks.
Why change now?
Because somewhere in the 'how to be a coach in 10 easy lessons' it says
you have to shorten the rotation in the playoffs?
I know this is a staple for Riley (who believes that you can will
yourself to a championship) and many others, but I don't think it works
for the Celts of 2008. The bench has been a huge advantage for us this
year. Why forsake that advantage?
If you remember it was the supposed lack of a bench that was going to
sink us. Well, I would submit that by shortening the rotation so
precipitously we are going to make those prophecies of doom come true.
Stick with what brung you this far.... 66 wins can't be wrong :>)
