NBDL (RE: Off and on subject)

There's a group trying to bring a team to Portland, Maine too and 
Erie PA has just gotten one. Looks like the northeast is seen as an 
area of growth for them, although yeah, tough to predict who will 
align with whom. While per an article on the blog for the group 
trying to get things going in Portland, http://maineprobasketball.com/

"In the next collective bargaining agreement, the league is expected 
to alter the language and allow injured players to go on a rehab 
assignment to the D-League, like baseball."

Which makes a lot of sense. Someone like Tony Allen, who can have as 
tough a time coming back mentally as physically from injuries and who 
needs the minutes to do it, comes to mind as someone who would really 
benefit from that sort of change. Although it doesn't change the 
essential problem where the NBDL is NOT like baseball, in that 
players there would presumably still count against the major league 
roster, so you couldn't necessarily replace someone on assignment there.
